Hello cariads,
How are you doing? Hopefully the sun warms your face and the birds chirp gleefully when you explore outside. This week’s poem is ‘Polaroid’, a piece I wrote a few months ago while reflecting on my brief encounter with someone I once knew.
Polaroid
Yet yearning, yearning, holding my breath whilst
I search and you don’t pass me your exhales anymore.
Once before the new calendar you remembered me.
Me, specifically? The list in your pocket?
That polaroid you wanted to keep in your wallet.
I wonder if you kept the mouse. I have my “gift”, still.
I searched for that phantom and I couldn’t find her.
You were fine with it, raced off in that first week,
wanting, dropping, wanting, unable to be still,
never mind you claiming otherwise.
I wish to haunt you, yet you hunt me always.
Thank you for reading. I adore you all!
Llawer o gariad,
Heledd xx
